Full Time Public Works Position

 

PUBLIC WORKS POSITION

The Municipality of Norfolk Treherne is accepting applications for:

· Full time Public Works Position (40-50 hours per week)

Applicants must have the ability to communicate with the public in a friendly manner, perform physical tasks, service, operate and maintain a variety of light and heavy equipment; while working co-operatively and independently. Class 3A driver’s license would be an asset and willingness to take water plant operation training.

Public Works – Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

1. Must be capable of working with minimum supervision and minimum direction.

2. Capable of producing and maintaining accurate records, reports and related paper work.

3. Able to deal with general public in a polite and courteous manner.

4. Must be in good health, capable of carrying out the physical requirements of the position and be able to pass a medical examination if required.

5. Must have sufficient knowledge in the operation, maintenance and repair of municipal equipment.

6. Demonstrate and have the ability to work with fellow employees in a harmonious and courteous manner.

7. Be able to do a variety of tasks that may arrive in a municipal setting.

8. Perform the regular scheduled maintenance duties such as but not limited to equipment and road maintenance, snow removal, sign placement, and drainage system maintenance.

9. Assist with the construction and maintenance of public works objectives.

10. Provide accurate and current records of work performed, equipment repair and maintenance schedules.

11. Must have janitorial skills for shop maintenance and ground maintenance.

12. Work under the direction of the Manager of Operations.

13. Class 3A driver’s license or higher an asset.

14. Be committed to continued improvement and training.

15. Be able to follow a health & safety plan.

This description contains the elements necessary for the identification and evaluation of the position. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties.

May be required to operate all or some road construction equipment, loaders, tractors, bulldozers, mowers, industrial and hand tools, pneumatic tools, calculator, chain saw etc…
